Steve Herrod's blog announced the release of VMware's Virtual Infrastructure Beta 2.  He posts that he will continue to update us all with more details, but for now posts the higher level drivers of this release.

Added VMware Consolidated Backup to simplify virtual machine backups

Added more Manageability:

VirtualCenter 2.0 offers tighter control over ESX Server instances

VirtualCenter 2.0 centralizes license management

VirtualCenter 2.0 offers fine grained access controls and audit trails
