Incipient, Inc., a provider of intelligent switch storage software, announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved and issued three technology patents for its storage virtualization technology. The three patented technologies protect various components found within the unique split-path architecture of the Incipient Network Storage Platform (NSP) software suite. These patents are instrumental in the delivery of reliable, efficient storage services for storage area networks (SAN). The patent awards are for the following technology innovations:
- Fast-path caching (U.S. Patent 6,986,015 B2),
- Locking technique for control and synchronization (U.S. Patent 6,973,549 B1) and
- Dynamic and variable length extents (U.S. Patent 6,959,373 B2).
Each patent application was filed on August 13, 2002 and awarded in the fourth quarter of 2005 and the first quarter of 2006.
