A PIONEERING virtual laboratory has been opened at an Edinburgh college.

Stevenson College is one of the first higher education institutes in Europe to introduce the Microsoft Virtual Server Lab.

The labs provide all the necessary teaching and literature on databases that students need to work towards qualifications on-line

They give students the opportunity to work through exercises at their own pace, either in college or at home.

College principal Susan Bird said: "The college's e-learning strategy is all about delivering quality training and enhancing the student experience."
