CRN reports:
SWSoft has named former VMware director Darren Harvey to head its channel efforts.
Harvey will serve as SWSoft's director of channel sales for North America, the Herndon, Va.-based company said. A 15-year industry veteran, he most recently served as area director for virtualization giant VMware.
Harvey helped build VMware's distribution strategy and sign key customers such as MasterCard, Ford, Sprint and AON. At SWSoft, he will help drive virtualization software sales and North American channel and OEM relationships, according to the company.
SWSoft competes against VMware and Microsoft in the virtualization software arena with its flagship Virtuozzo platform, which supports Linux and Windows. The privately held company also backs an open-source virtualization project called OpenVZ.
