rPath's Flagship Product, rBuilder, Finalist in Two Categories, Best Virtualization Solution and Best Systems Management Tool
Quoting from Business Wire:
rPath today announced that its flagship product, rBuilder, the first platform
for creating and maintaining Linux software appliances, has been selected as a
finalist in two categories at the upcoming LinuxWorld Boston 2006 Product
Excellence Awards, Best Virtualization Solution (rBuilder Online) and Best
Systems Management Tool (rBuilder). These awards recognize product and service
innovations by LinuxWorld exhibitors and will be presented during a ceremony in
the Product Excellence Awards Theater on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 12:30 pm
EST.
rBuilder is a platform for creating and maintaining software appliances. A
software appliance combines an application with a tailored OS in a format that
readily installs on industry standard hardware or runs as a virtual machine
file, eliminating the hassles of software installation and configuration.
rBuilder Online is free of charge for developers who make their software project
available for download via rPath's online software appliance repository.
"We are pleased to have our software appliance concept recognized by the
industry in this forum," said Erik Troan, rPath founder and CTO. "In the very
near future, widespread availability of virtualization technology coupled with
the freely distributable nature of Linux will make the software appliance the
preferred format for distributing applications."
Troan will deliver an
overview of rPath's rBuilder technology during a product demo at 12:00 pm on
April 4th in the Product Excellence Theater. "I look forward to sharing with
LinuxWorld attendees how simple it is to transform applications into software
appliances using rBuilder Online," said Troan.
In addition, rPath will
be exhibiting at LinuxWorld in booth #1101. For more information on the awards
