In an attempt to help validate what they do, Softricity released an ROI calculator to show the return on virtualization (ROV) that they can provide a business that uses their Softricity Desktop (their application virtualization and streaming software). 

The calculator is a sophisticated tool which accesses all the application management costs, both with and without the Softricity Desktop.  It then determines the potential savings that a business can realize by using virtualization and streaming.

The ROV Calculator uses customer inputs about their IT environment to calculate results, including the following:

• Topology: The number of users and devices, including branch locations
• Applications: The total number of applications in use, the annual number of newly deployed, updated and terminated applications, and typical conflict resolution times
• Execution platform: The percentage of users running their applications locally (on desktops and laptops) and those running them remotely (on Terminal Servers)
• Delivery: The percentage of applications distributed manually and those distributed electronically (ESD)
• Support: The number of application-related calls received by the support organization, and those handled by help desk vs. second-level or administrative support
