Topio Joins VMware Community Source Program

Quoting from Topio's Press Release:

Topio, Inc.® (www.topio.com), the leading provider of software for data replication and recovery, today announced that it has officially become a member of the VMware Community Source program, an innovative collaborative development effort that provides open technology access to the source code and APIs for VMware ESX Server. The program combines the best elements of open source and enterprise development allowing partners to boost the level of functionality and slash the time to market of virtualizations solutions for their customers.

As part of the VMware Community Source program, Topio will work closely with VMware to extend integration of the Topio Data Protection Suite (TDPS) with VMware ESX Server. The VMware Community Source program will facilitate this effort through source access and a development model that allows efficient delivery of differentiated product capabilities featuring deep integration with VMware virtualization software.

"The benefits that virtualization creates for customers are proven and dramatic and I welcome our continuing collaboration with VMware," said Erez Webman, Topio's Chief Architect. "We are focused on delivering high performance replication and recovery solutions that scale from the midsized business, all the way up to the largest enterprise. Enabling VMware ESX Server and TDPS in a seamless virtual infrastructure will deliver even faster, more flexible, recovery for our customers, at a lower cost."

The VMware Community Source initiative is designed to accelerate the creation of a rich variety of products that integrate with and exploit a virtualization platform in new ways. Additionally, with the VMware Community Source program, customers can expect to see enhanced interoperability between VMware and third party vendor solutions.

"Since disaster recovery is one of the most frequently deployed solutions for VMware customers, we are excited to have Topio as a Community Source partner," said Bernie Mills, senior director of developer programs at VMware. "We expect that source code access and a collaborative development model will expedite delivery of differentiated Topio replication capabilities integrated into VMware virtual infrastructure."
