Hardware vendor Fujitsu Siemens has teamed up with AMD and Network Appliances for a Middle East virtualisation tour that will visit eight countries and showcase enterprise end-users a blueprint for a virtualised datacentre.

“The co-operation of three major players is a significant step in the regional development and education of the virtualisation concept,” said Stephane Rejasse, Middle East general manager at Fujitsu Siemens, speaking after the initial event in Abu Dhabi.

“This event gave IT managers an overview of the dynamic datacentre and presented them with results of a study that validated positive return on investment (ROI) for companies involved in virtualisation projects,” he added.

The events will focus on how companies can make better use of IT resources if they separate applications and data from dedicated servers and instead pool and share resources as needed. Using this technique, Fujitsu Siemens claims that IT managers can move resources around much more easily and utilise the capacity of hardware resources much more efficiently.

“If IT infrastructures are to react more dynamically, they need to be organised in a completely flexible manner — from the processor via the server right down to memory,” said Rajesh Deepchandani, large enterprise product marketing manager at Fujitsu Siemens. “AMD, Network Appliances and Fujitsu Siemens Computers are among the first IT manufacturers to jointly approach the subject of virtualisation on all these levels in the Middle East.”

“Virtualisation is a very hot topic,” continued Deepchandani. “Customers want dynamic IT solutions that also offer performance with flexibility and that can work today. Fujitsu Siemens Computers and our partners have already proven we can deliver on that promise. Virtualisation is one of the three core principles within our dynamic datacentre, which enables on-demand computing to become a reality. This concept provides IT directors with solutions that have the performance and flexibility they require.”

Fujitsu Siemens is also discussing two of its major dynamic IT solutions at the event: FlexFrame for Oracle and FlexFrame for SAP. Having partnered with both ERP vendors, Fujitsu Siemens claims that it can offer a solution that optimises operations of SAP and Oracle in a virtualised environment.

“IT directors need infrastructures that enable them directly to address the needs of their business. FlexFrame for Oracle and FlexFrame for SAP does just this and provides them with an answer that helps them on two fronts — it brings down costs and increases efficiency immediately and it fits into existing environments,” continued Deepchandani.

The virtualisation road show is visiting eight countries in the Middle East: the UAE, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Kuwait and Pakistan.
