rPath Expands Headquarters, Moves to New Space

Quoting the press release:

rPath, provider of the first platform for creating and maintaining Linux software appliances, announced today that the company has doubled the size of its Raleigh headquarters due to extensive growth in the past months.  rPath plans to celebrate its new space with an open house on August 1, which will include honored guest NC Congressman Brad Miller.

“Since launching in January of this year, rPath has experienced incredible momentum,” said Billy Marshall, rPath’s founder and CEO.  “In order to meet the needs of this growing market we needed a much larger space that would allow us to easily expand our team.”

The company has signed numerous customers since its launch, including Digium, Vindicia and the Department of Energy.  Further, rPath has received award recognition including the NC Council for Entrepreneurial Development’s 2006 “Start-Up of the Year” award and Linux World’s Product Excellence award for “Best Systems Management Tool.”  The company was also named as “One to Watch” by the Open Source Business Conference and as a finalist in Red Herring’s “Top 100” in North America.

rPath’s rBuilder is a platform for creating and maintaining software appliances.  A software appliance combines an application with a streamlined OS in a format that readily installs on industry standard hardware or runs inside a virtual machine, eliminating the hassles of software installation and configuration.  rPath boasts nearly 100,000 downloads and 4,000 developers on rBuilder Online – the company’s online community that allows developers to build free, open projects using rBuilder.

rPath will hold an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate its new office as well as the company’s growth and accomplishments.  Earlier this year, Congressman Miller notified rPath executives that they had been awarded a $100,000 Small Business Innovation Research grant from the Department of Energy.

“We are honored to have Congressman Miller join us to celebrate our new office as well as our many accomplishments over the past months,” said Keith Boswell, vice president of marketing.  “Our expert team has achieved a great deal in a short amount of time and we look forward to even greater success going forward.”
