VMware on Mac - No Longer a Rumor

Well, it looks like VMware running on a Mac is no longer just a rumor.  They finally officially announced the product just prior to the start of Apple's WWDC conference.  I can only imagine what the buzz will be at the conference.  You can bet that any booth VMware has will be filled to capacity with people trying to get a glance at the new product.

VMware has added a nice banner ad on their home Web page that reads:

"Love your Mac and have your PC too"

They are also advertising a demo of the product today between 12:30 and 8:00 at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco, CA.

The product offers:

  • The ability to simultaneously run any PC OS - Windows, Linux, NetWare, and others - on Mac OS X.
  • Easy tab switching between applications
  • Sharing data between the two operating systems via drag and drop
  • Interoperability between the VMware for Mac and any other VMware product
  • Ability to run more than 250 VMware virtual appliances

And if you look at the screenshot released by VMware, you can see the Parallels desktop icon in the dock as well... Ooops! (look between Word and the Text editor).

Am I blind? I cannot see the Parallels icon. Or have I just been punked?
