Well, it looks like VMware running on a Mac is no longer just a rumor. They finally officially announced the product just prior to the start of Apple's WWDC conference. I can only imagine what the buzz will be at the conference. You can bet that any booth VMware has will be filled to capacity with people trying to get a glance at the new product.
VMware has added a nice banner ad on their home Web page that reads:
"Love your Mac and have your PC too"
They are also advertising a demo of the product today between 12:30 and 8:00 at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco, CA.
The product offers:
- The ability to simultaneously run any PC OS - Windows, Linux, NetWare, and others - on Mac OS X.
- Easy tab switching between applications
- Sharing data between the two operating systems via drag and drop
- Interoperability between the VMware for Mac and any other VMware product
- Ability to run more than 250 VMware virtual appliances
