VMware Announces VMworld 2006 Breakout Sessions List
If you've been waiting to see what sessions VMworld would offer this year before making the leap to sign up, your wait is over!

This year promises a content-rich experience with 6 tracks and over 150 different topics — with over half of the sessions focused on timely technical information and one quarter on advanced, deep-dive technical content. Beyond the information-packed sessions, there are eight instructor-led labs and three drop-in, self-paced labs.

Take a moment to review the topics that span three full days of breakout sessions and pick a track that's right for you — or browse a variety of sessions from all the tracks. Also, view detailed abstracts including who will be leading each session.

Here is a sample of the VMworld 2006 tracks and what they cover.

• Architecting the Data Center: Find out the best methods for assessing, planning and evaluating a hardware and software environment for virtualization. Breakout sessions will also cover communicating the technical and business benefits of virtual infrastructure, getting management approval and other topics around building and deploying virtual infrastructure in the data center.

• Managing the Data Center: Learn the best practices for virtual infrastructure management, storage and data backup, resource management, workload balancing, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Select track sessions will cover methods for quantifying and reporting the ROI and other benefits gained from virtualization.

• Building Business Continuity: Understand all aspects of building high-availability systems including operational recovery and disaster recovery.

• Developing, Testing and Deploying with Virtualization: Discover how virtualization software, specifically VMware Workstation, VMware Server and virtual appliances, can improve software and application lifecycle management. Breakout sessions will focus on how virtualization is used to build more responsive and flexible development and test environments.

• Managing the Enterprise Desktop: Examine how virtualization can provide secure and managed desktop access to both local and remote users, including remote development teams, call centers, consultants and field sales organizations.

• Exploring Technology and Architecture: Explore the technology and architecture of virtualization products from VMware and our ecosystem partners. Breakout sessions will offer a deep dive, “under the covers” look at the architecture of VMware products. Get an in-depth look at VMware DRS, learn best practices for architecting a particular ISV application running on virtual infrastructure or for running virtual infrastructure on a particular hardware platform, and discover how to tune hardware to get the best performance out of virtual machines.
