Citrix Systems, Inc., the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that it will be hosting a series of seminars featuring Gartner, Inc. focusing on the business benefits gained through application virtualization. Intended for IT executives, the 'live' breakfast seminar series will be held in New York, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, and feature Mark Margevicius, research vice president at Gartner as well as executives from application virtualization pioneer Citrix Systems.
Whether distributed by choice (through outsourcing, regional expansion and new work-life policies) or by circumstance (from weather, natural or man-made disasters, or a pandemic event), a distributed workforce is a norm rather than an exception of business operations today. As a result, organizations today face two opposing forces: an increasingly dispersed workforce and an urgent need to stringently control information. Application virtualization serves both requirements by both centralizing and consolidating applications and data within the datacenter and enabling the same secured anywhere-access from the office, home, partner site, outsourcing vendor or road. IT organizations gain control and are better able to manage the risks of intellectual property containment, while workers gain flexibility and mobility.
This seminar series will aim to show IT executives how to ensure that their infrastructures can support these new workforce realities while retaining control over applications and information. Application virtualization plays a strategic role in this effort by centralizing applications and data, consolidating control and maximizing IT efficiency. The seminars will focus on:
-- Where application virtualization fits into an overall IT virtualization strategy
-- How application virtualization addresses common business imperatives, such as pandemic preparation
-- The economic and technology trends driving adoption
-- Where application virtualization and related technologies are headed
