Tech Data Corp. has an exclusive arrangement to offer XenSource Inc's XenEnterprise server virtualization platform. XenEnterprise enables resellers to decrease networking infrastructure and operating costs by eliminating underutilized server hardware.

No terms of the deal were disclosed.

"The savings and efficiency gains associated with server virtualization are extremely compelling selling points for resellers, especially with today's rising energy costs," said Bob O'Malley, Tech Data's senior vice president of U.S. marketing, in a release.

According to XenSource, 10 of the industry's latest servers running XenEnterprise can replace as many as 100 legacy servers, eliminating the need to power and house large server farms.

Founded in 1974, Tech Data distributes IT products, with more than 90,000 customers in over 100 countries.

XenSource, headquartered in Palo Alto, Calif., develops software virtualization products.
