Vizioncore Inc, a leading provider of software for VMware Infrastructure environments, today announced the availability of esxRanger Professional 3.0, a solution that works seamlessly with VMware Consolidated Backup to provide a powerful and cost-effective hot backup and disaster recovery solution for large-scale implementations of VMware Infrastructure.

The announcement of esxRanger Professional 3.0 follows the release of VMware Consolidated Backup in June, 2006 as part of the VMware Infrastructure 3 software suite. VMware Consolidated Backup enables the use of a proxy server to offload backups from the host server, thus optimizing performance of backup operations and eliminating overhead from the host server.

esxRanger Professional 3.0 integrates with VMware Infrastructure 3 and VMware Consolidated Backup to enable LAN-free and service console-free backups of virtual machines to provide high-performance backups at high speeds. The combination of esxRanger Professional and VMware Consolidated Backup offers customers a complete backup solution with zero network load and no overhead on the VMware ESX Server host, allowing the virtual machines to use all the resources of the host.

The innovative approach for integration from esxRanger Professional leverages a memory extraction engine to bypass the need to stage data on the actual proxy server, increasing the speed of the backup process by up to 300 percent and minimizing disk storage requirements. Deploying esxRanger Professional 3.0 also reduces the need for backup agents within virtual machines, thereby saving costs and reducing the overall complexity of the backup process.

esxRanger Professional 3.0 also delivers the ability to restore either the entire virtual machine or selected files within those virtual machines as needed, supplying the performance and flexibility administrators desire. In addition to enabling backup and restore with VMware Consolidated Backup, esxRanger Professional 3.0 offers broad feature support for the VMware Infrastructure 3 platform and continues to provide the key features and functionality of previous versions, including:
