Surgient Virtual Lab Management App Integrates with Platespin's Powerconvert
Surgient, the leader in Virtual Lab Management Applications for automating software test, training and demo labs, and PlateSpin Ltd. today announced a co-development and co-marketing agreement in which PlateSpin’s PowerConvert OS Portability technology will be integrated with Surgient’s Virtual Lab Management Applications. The partnership and product integration addresses the growing demand for automating the management of mixed virtual and physical environments.

Surgient virtual lab management applications enable enterprise IT organizations to consolidate and share pre- and post-production infrastructure, and to automate the setup and teardown of complex software configurations on-demand. PlateSpin’s OS Portability technology enables the complete interchange of data, applications and operating systems including physical-to-virtual (P2V), virtual-to-virtual (V2V) and virtual-to-physical (V2P) migration capabilities.

Together, Surgient and PlateSpin enable customers to quickly and easily capture and convert existing software systems, and make them available for development, test, training, support, sales and marketing personnel across the enterprise, eliminating the risks associated with heterogeneous infrastructure and dependent provisioning methods.

“Today’s already fragmented infrastructure landscape is experiencing a new wave of heterogeneity as organizations evaluate and rapidly adopt multiple virtualization technologies,” said Bill Daniel, president & CEO of Surgient. “Surgient and PlateSpin share a common vision for providing solutions that span physical and virtual infrastructure boundaries and we’re delighted to be working with together to ensure our customers have the broadest capabilities available anywhere for system capture and conversion spanning both production and pre-production environments.”

“PlateSpin’s OS Portability technology is an essential asset in the production data center for achieving continuous server consolidation and disaster recovery objectives,” said Stephen Pollack, PlateSpin CEO. “Now, enterprise organizations are looking to expand their use of virtualization to pre- and post-production needs in the form of virtual labs. Surgient is leading this movement, and we’re excited to partner with them to deliver best-in-class P2V, V2V and V2P capabilities.

PlateSpin and Surgient are exhibiting at VMworld 2006, Nov. 7-9, 2006 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in booths 635 and 712 respectively. Both companies will have representatives available to speak about the integration and partnership.
