If you haven't already done so, I invite you to either express your opinion or that of your organization by taking this free virtualization benchmark survey from the Aberdeen Group.  Let's try and gain some grass roots efforts as we, the people who actually use or are interested in this technology, actually get OUR voices or opinions heard.

The Aberdeen Group has been doing this type of fact-based research for quite a while now.  They started back in 1988 and established themselves as a market leading position as the "voice that matters" when it comes to understanding the measurable results being delivered by technology in business.

The problem with many virtualization surveys out there is that they are geared toward one specific company in an effort to lead the horse to water and then make it drink.  And then after you take your time filling out the survey, they typically ask that you pay hundreds or thousands of dollars in order to find out the results. 

This survey seems to be going down the right path.  It asks a series of questions, around 32 in all, that asks about both server and storage virtualization.  The questions ask about current and future plans, implementations, strategy, etc.  All in all, the survey took me a few minutes to fill out with simple check box answers being made available.
