PlateSpin Launches Global Channel Partner Program
PlateSpin Ltd. today announced a new Global Channel Partner Program focused on delivering the tools and training that value-added resellers (VARs) and distributors need to succeed in the rapidly growing virtualization market. In 2006, the majority of PlateSpin’s total revenues were generated through the global channel.

Headed by industry veteran Chris Mureen, PlateSpin’s Vice-President, Sales, who has built and managed sales channel programs for Surgient, Metrowerks/Motorola, Pervasive Software and Simba Technologies (acquired by Pivotal Software), the new channel program will strengthen PlateSpin’s position as the leading software vendor in the virtualization market.

“PlateSpin’s future growth depends upon the success of our channel partners worldwide,” said Mureen, “In 2006, we expanded our channel, adding 111 new authorized resellers around the world and opening six new global training centers. Over the course of 2007, we will make further investments in the global channel with a focus on driving sales opportunities, increasing partner profitability and enhancing customer satisfaction through a shared effort to incorporate market-leading solutions with superior solution-building and deployment expertise.”

Based on consultation and feedback from existing partners, the program includes comprehensive training, testing and accreditation for PlateSpin partners to certify them as experts in the deployment and use of PlateSpin solutions for continuous server consolidation and physical-to-virtual (P2V) disaster recovery. The goal is to reduce deployment time and ensure that customers get the most out their investments in PlateSpin data center solutions. Hundreds of IT professionals have already received accredited training in PlateSpin’s global training centers.

“With decreasing IT budgets and increasing corporate expectations, data center managers are discovering the value and efficiencies that PlateSpin products bring to the enterprise data center,” said Paul Casey, Datacentre VMware Technology Leader, Computacenter Services. “At the center of a rapidly expanding market, PlateSpin develops technology that facilitates virtualization, optimization and innovation in the data center, allowing organizations to dynamically manage server workload and virtualize or de-virtualize data and applications at will. With an emphasis on enhancing the speed and quality of client implementations, the PlateSpin Partner Program will ensure that we are better positioned to meet the needs of our customers.”

“As the first licensed PlateSpin trainer in the UK, Magirus launched PlateSpin product training courses in May 2006, “said Lorraine Higgs, Magirus’s Virtualisation Sales Manager. “Working hand in glove with PlateSpin to share the very latest in product knowledge and best practice, we offer a mix of classroom training and practical instruction, supplemented by hands-on experience of real-life implementations. Our focus is to work with our resellers to help enterprises streamline their server consolidation, disaster recovery projects and data centre operations, ensuring they extract maximum value from their virtualization investments.”

“This new value-based, global channel program demonstrates PlateSpin’s commitment to supporting its partners,” said Lisa Webster, Product Manager, Centia Ltd. “PlateSpin clearly understands what VARs and distributors need to deliver service excellence, attract new business and close opportunities. We look forward to working with PlateSpin, a leader in the data center virtualization market, to grow our businesses and achieve mutual success.”
