Microsoft Corp. reports moving from Boston to Cambridge its SoftGrid business that resulted from its acquisition of Softricity Inc. last year, to accommodate SoftGrid's growth and demand for high technology workers.
Microsoft's SoftGrid, which is now in 16,605 square feet of space in Boston, will move to 45,000 square feet of space at One Memorial Drive in Cambridge, company officials said.
The announcement comes three months after Microsoft announced that it will keep its 200-person Groove development team in Beverly. The team, which develops collaboration software included in a version of Microsoft Office, operated as Groove Networks Inc. before it was bought by Microsoft in 2005 for an undisclosed amount.
Microsoft, founded in 1975, employs 500 workers in Massachusetts, company officials said.
