RELDATA Announces RELvos 2.0 Virtualization Operating System

RELDATA, the leader of a new generation of unified storage systems, announced today the general availability of its recently enhanced storage virtualization software, RELvos(TM) Version 2.0. The new 64-bit performance of RELvos 2.0 boosts RELDATA unified storage systems' performance and throughput to be comparable to more expensive alternatives, at a much lower total cost of ownership.

"The 64-bit performance of the RELDATA 9240 Unified Storage Gateway provides users with the ability to get high-end NetApp(R) V6070 performance at NetApp V3020 entry-level pricing. In addition, open storage connectivity lets storage managers redeploy existing storage investments and avoid vendor lock-in," said Boris Anderer, RELDATA CEO. "Plus, RELDATA's ability to co-exist with more expensive storage solutions from NetApp and EMC(R) make us a compelling value proposition for customers."

The RELvos(TM) Virtualization Operating System is an enterprise-level virtualization platform that is purpose built to deliver real world unified storage services. It provides concurrent, high-speed IP SAN and NAS storage services packaged with comprehensive enterprise-class WAN data replication. RELvos, which is only available with the RELDATA 9000 Series of enterprise-class storage virtualization appliances, delivers open, scalable and reliable unified storage solutions. Its modular architecture lets organizations easily expand both application-based (SAN) and file-based (NAS) storage capacity to meet user demand, seamlessly consolidate underused storage assets, and ensure data availability with global WAN replication.

"Recent performance testing of the RELDATA 9240 Unified Storage Gateway with RELvos V2.0 has demonstrated remarkable IOPS for CIFS, NFS and iSCSI throughput. We are confident that the 9240's IOPS for file data are equivalent or better than high-end NetApp V6070 virtualization appliances. Moreover, the 9240's throughput and iSCSI IOPS are several times greater than the V6070," said Kirill Malkin, RELDATA CTO.

"The ability to deliver NAS, SAN and WAN disaster recovery services from one unified storage solution was already an attractive value proposition in terms of cost, flexibility and practicality," said Tom Russo, President of doeLegal, a leading online legal services provider. "Our recent upgrade to RELvos V2.0 took a strong all-around product and delivered record-setting performance. Our choice of RELDATA was an excellent one."

"Without RELDATA technology we would need to implement another vendor's system to back up at least 200 GB of data daily. That would significantly increase our costs to achieve the same amount of backup we now get with of our RELDATA solution," said Brian McGovern, Director of Technology at Interactive Media Associates. The Internet service provider IMA maintains a sophisticated technology infrastructure encompassing two data centers to meet the complex online needs of high-profile commercial and not-for-profit clients. IMA recently upgraded to RELvos Version 2.0.

The 9240 Unified Storage Gateway with RELvos V2.0 is available through certified partners for a MSRP of $34,485 for a fully featured appliance.
