Reflex Security, Inc. (
www.reflexsecurity.com) innovator in enterprise-class security solutions based on intrusion prevention systems (IPS), today announced major performance and feature enhancements to its solutions for securing virtualized networks. These capabilities build on the company's innovative Reflex VSA (Virtual Security Appliance), the industry's first intrusion prevention solution for virtualized server environments (which shipped in March 2006).
New Reflex Security Architecture Redefines Performance Expectations
Previously concerned about the performance bottleneck of securing virtual networks, network managers will be happy to learn of the availability of Reflex Security Parallel Processing Architecture™ (RSPPA), lets users of Reflex VSA cost-effectively secure their virtual networks while operating at enterprise-class performance levels.
Introduced today at INTEROP, the Reflex Security Parallel Processing Architecture™ (RSPPA) is a new scalable software platform which enables all Reflex Security solutions (for both physical and virtual networks) to leverage the power of Multi-Core processing technology. Running in a virtual network, Reflex's RSPPA auto-detects the presence of "Virtual CPUs" and uniquely takes advantage of them for unprecedented performance gains. The RSPPA integrates with VMware and leverages the ever-increasing power of Intel® Multi-Core processing technology (e.g. that delivered through the newest Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® E5335 processors).
"Now, for the first time system administrators can fully leverage VMware to provision Virtual CPUs to meet performance demands. The combination of Reflex VSA with RSPPA is the only scalable, multi-processor capable, virtual security solution available on the market today," said John Peterson, VP of Product Marketing, Reflex Security.
"Developed in cooperation with our partners Intel and Vmware -- the RSPPA brings forth an entirely new level of performance and scalability for existing and new customers," said Hezi Moore, CTO of Reflex Security.
For more on The Reflex Security Parallel Processing Architecture™ (RSPPA) and how it also powers Reflex Security's newest security appliance, see today's related release entitled "Reflex Security® Shatters Gigabit IPS Price/Performance Barrier Shipping Interceptor 1000™ at http://www.reflexsecurity.com/news/index.php.
Demand for Security Increasing with Growth of Virtual Networks
The deployment of virtual networks is increasing at a dramatic rate especially in deployments for large enterprises including business, education, institutional and governmental networks. In its November 2006 Research Brief "The Need for Virtual Security Partitions is Growing," Gartner, Inc. projected that by 2011, 70% of servers in large enterprises will be equipped with virtual security partitions. Impressed by how they are reliable, cost-effective and simplify IT infrastructure and network management, Reflex Security's end-user enterprise customers worldwide are embracing the trend toward virtual networks.
"The combination of Reflex VSA with VMware for secure, scalable and resilient virtual networks is an ideal solution for us," said Andy Bowler of UK-based Crown Agents (www.crownagents.com) a multinational company that provides public sector modernisation for clients including the World Bank, European Commission, United Nations and the Danish, Japanese and US governments. "We found the option of upgrading physical networks to be prohibitively expensive, labour-intensive and inefficient. Deploying virtualised networks secured by Reflex VSA has proven cost-effective and easy to maintain, which has given us a solid platform for disaster recovery and enterprise-wide security."
Enhanced Reflex Virtual Security Appliance (VSA):
First Integrated Security Solution for Virtual Networks
The enhanced Reflex VSA showcased at INTEROP integrates major IT security processes into a single virtual security solution for the first time:
-- Identity-based Network Access Control
-- Policy Enforcement, Identity and Access Management
-- Firewall
-- Protocol Anomaly Detection
-- Risk Management (Attack Detection, Intrusion Prevention,
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery)
-- Anti-Spyware
-- Anti-Virus
