United Devices' Insight 4.0 Fuels Data Center Automation
United Devices (UD) today announced general availability for the latest version of Insight, an application-centric analysis and reporting product that leverages real-time capacity and utilization information to optimize application performance across data center infrastructure.

Insight 4.0 delivers the real-time and historical data companies need in order to align virtualized application delivery with business policies and infrastructure availability. Insight maintains a consolidated view of capacity and utilization data across applications, users, and resources. UDs data center solutions leverage this data in real time to optimize scheduling and resource provisioning decisions. In addition, resource owners and administrators utilize Insight data to create more meaningful, comprehensive policy definitions that are application- and user-focused.

The majority of UDs large production implementations depend on the Insight product.

This capability is a fundamental component of successful data center optimization initiatives, said Jikku Venkat, chief technology officer at UD. Its Operations 101 -- you cant manage what you cant measure. With Insight 4.0, a companys data center automation software can now profile capacity, analyze how applications and users map to that capacity, and act in an automated fashion to ensure application SLAs are met. Network connectivity, bandwidth, policy status, performance heuristics, and other data fuel the decision-making process.

Insight 4.0 also includes support for report designer capabilities through Business Intelligence and Reporting Tool (BIRT), a leading open-source technology well-known for its ease of use. With this capability, administrators can leverage a data warehouse to create reports specifically tailored to meet custom requirements for off-line capacity and utilization analysis.

Insight 4.0 is generally available today. Additional information, including a product data sheet, can be found at http://www.ud.com/products/insight.php.
