PlateSpin Ltd. today announced that the company
’s PowerRecon
™ data center planning and analysis solution has won the
“Green Product of the Year
” award as part of the Techworld Awards 2007.
The Techworld Awards recognize and reward the very highest standards of individual and collective achievement. With over 200 entries each year, they are considered a benchmark throughout the computer industry. Entrants are evaluated on strategy, creativity, innovation and effectiveness. An independent panel of judges of highly respected individuals from the IT industry and Techworld editors meet to select the shortlists and final winners. PlateSpin accepted the award at the Techworld Awards Gala in central London, UK on June 27.
The “Green Product of the Year” is a new Techworld Awards category this year, and recognizes the growing importance of green IT solutions. With rising energy prices and growing concerns about global warming and carbon footprints, reducing power consumption in the data center is fast becoming a priority for IT and business executives worldwide. The issue is compounded by high-density equipment such as blade servers, which need a lot of power to run, as well as significant HVAC resources. PlateSpin PowerRecon makes green computing a reality by providing medium and large data centers with the unique ability to analyze and report on power and cooling requirements and create plans for reducing energy consumption in the data center. PowerRecon is being adopted by both end-use clients and system integrators/consultants who are packaging the product as a key component of their virtualization, IT environmental assessment and green computing offerings.
“We are very pleased to be recognized with the Green Product of the Year Award, and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the PowerRecon development team for their efforts and creativity in building a best-in-class product,” said Stephen Pollack, PlateSpin founder and CEO. “PowerRecon makes it easy to cost-justify green data center initiatives by helping system integrators and end-use customers accurately assess the environmental impacts and potential cost savings derived from a consolidation or hardware migration initiative. When PowerRecon is used in conjunction with PowerConvert, PlateSpin’s anywhere-to-anywhere workload migration and protection product, the combined solution effectively automates green computing initiatives.”
