At the Worldwide Partner Conference in San Francisco, Microsoft's Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Turner, announced that Windows Server 2008 (aka Longhorn), Microsoft SQL Server 2008, and Visual Studio 2008 will all be officially launched on February 27, 2008.
So if Microsoft keeps to its previously announced time frame, it sounds like we can expect to see Windows Server Virtualization (aka Viridian) around the end of August, 2008.
It will be interesting to see what VMware will have on the burner at that time since VMworld 2008 should be right around the corner. I suspect we'll see a faceoff of features in about 13 months from now - hypervisor versus hypervisor.
Stay tuned! Hopefully things stay on track.
