The integration of these LANDesk products gives IT organizations the same control over virtualized applications as they now have over standard applications-delivering unmatched business value and ease of use.
LANDesk Software, an Avocent company, is a leading provider of IT service-oriented management solutions. The Salt Lake City, Utah-headquartered firm has been doing business in the region through the Dubai-based Intertec Systems, its only ESP partner in the region.
Mr. Naresh Kothari, President and Managing Director, Intertec Systems, said: 'The LANDesk Application Virtualization will empower enterprises with capabilities that are needed to seamlessly run multiple applications'.
He further added, 'The new software gives users conflict-free access to the applications they need while maintaining secure, clean stable user desktops and complete control over enterprise system'.
"Application virtualization has been seen as the next hot IT technology for some time now, but until today, customers have not been able to unlock all of the value promised by competing solutions," said Steve Daly, General Manager of LANDesk.
Further elaborating on the new software, Ms.Charlotte, product Manager, Intertec Systems, said: 'LANDesk Application Virtualization uses a client-less architecture that allows applications to be run from any LAN, WAN, USB, CD-ROM drive, and more, with zero-footprint on the host PC.'
The virtualized applications, are packaged into simple EXE files, are isolated from the host PC and run exclusively in user mode. This ensures seamless execution on locked-down desktops with no device drivers installed, enabling administrators to maintain a secure, clean and stable user desktop. The solution can transparently stream large applications from a shared network drive with no client or server software to install, as well as run the application 'off-line' on the PC without installation or changes to the local desktop's registry and file system.
In other words LANDesk Application Virtualization is all about:
•True Application Isolation
•New Packaging technology
•40% compression ratio
•No Backend support server
•No agents required
The integration of the latest version of LANDesk Application Virtualization with LANDesk Management Suite now offers LANDesk customers the following IT benefits:
•Discovery and reporting of virtualized applications in regular inventory scan.
•License usage tracking of virtualized applications, as well as user/machine usage.
•The addition of a 'virtual application' menu option within various software distribution tasks.
•The option of locating and storing virtualized applications locally on the host or on a server.
•The ability to stream virtual applications to user machines.
•Deploying a virtualized application provides users with the full functionality of that application without having to go through the installation process. Because virtualized applications run in their own virtual environment, users are able to eliminate application conflicts, they can run different versions of the same application simultaneously to leverage prior investments in database content, and they can run applications that are not yet compatible with Windows Vista™, as they deploy that operating system in their organization.
