VMBlog.com would like to congratulate all of the winners at VMworld 2007. Everyone should also thank TechTarget Magazine for their work on these awards. The team was running around the trade show for hours on end speaking to exhibitors to find out more about all of the great companies in attendance. And then, they spent countless hours discussing what each team witnessed from each vendor's booth before any of their difficult decisions could be made.
The editors of TechTarget Inc.’s SearchServerVirtualization.com™ today announced the winners of the Best of VMworld Awards selected from more than 100 exhibitors at the VMworld conference being held this week at the Moscone Center in San Francisco and sponsored by VMware Inc, the world’s leading provider of virtualization solutions for x86-based servers and desktops. An independent team of judges consisting of experts and editors from SearchServerVirtualization.com reviewed and evaluated the products according to innovation, value, performance, reliability and ease of use.
Only products currently available for purchase were considered for all categories. Products being demonstrated but not available for purchase were considered only for the New Technology category.
The awards span nine categories: capacity planning and other consolidation software; performance monitoring and optimization; migration tools (P2V, V2V, V2P software); data protection (backup, recovery, security); utilities, which will include software not covered by the other categories; and desktop virtualization software; as well as New Technology, Green Computing and Best of Show.
Because both SearchServerVirtualization.com and its sister site, SearchDataCenter.com™ have been IT pioneers in the coverage of both the looming crisis in corporate data centers and IT departments’ creative efforts to incorporate green technology, the editors also presented Green Computing awards to 3PAR Inc. for its 3PAR Utility Storage solution technology and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) for its quad-core processor technology. Server virtualization technology is one of several IT initiatives that can have a significant effect on corporate power consumption in data centers, which are the largest consumers of electricity in many companies.
The New Technology winners are Onaro Inc. for its VM Insight solution, Marathon Technologies Corp. for its everRun FT for XenEnterprise solution and InovaWave Inc. for its InovaWave VirtualOctane for ESX Server solution.
Additionally, a Best of Show award was presented to IBM (NYSE: IBM) and VMware Inc. (NYSE: VMW) for IBM System x 3950 M2 with VMware ESX Server 3i.
