Opalis Software, Inc., the Run Book Automation (RBA) market leader, today announced the immediate availability of new Integration Packs for its award-wining Opalis Integration Server technology for BladeLogic, BMC, CA, and IBM, extending its wide breadth of enterprise support of systems management tools from these IT software providers. Specifically, the new integration packs support BladeLogic Operations Manager, BMC Event Manager, CA Unicenter NSM, and IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus and will enable customers to easily build process automation solutions across heterogeneous IT environments at any scale.
"Most enterprises rely on a number of systems management solutions to maximize performance and service availability, and yet the handoffs and information flow that need to occur between them are not always seamless,” said Charles Crouchman, CTO of Opalis. “Opalis provides bi-directional integrations that connect IT systems management tools – such as monitoring to help desk and event management – by automating and orchestrating processes between these systems management tools, even when they are from different vendors. Our customers have asked for deep and broad integration that is productized and supported by Opalis, rather than created by vendor consulting services and supported by the customers themselves.
These new Integration Packs reflect our ongoing commitment to providing solutions that meet customer needs for automating critical IT processes.” Opalis delivers automation through innovative orchestration and integration of IT processes, thereby reducing the manual repetitive efforts that are burdensome and wasteful for IT organizations, yet which must be done to ensure efficient enterprise business operations. Opalis’ solutions deliver the largest number of reusable activity templates and pre-defined processes, enabling IT organizations to rapidly design and deploy automated run book procedures. Opalis Integration Packs further extend Opalis functionality with additional product specific activity templates to orchestrate activities, integrate data, and automate tasks between infrastructure elements (both hardware and software).
Linking Systems Monitoring with Problem and Incident Management
The new Opalis Integration Packs for BMC, CA, and IBM offer bi-directional integrations that enable IT organizations to:
- Incorporate systems monitoring solutions with problem management processes and response procedures by connecting data center components with automated processes.
- Automate problem and incident management routines faster. Problem and incident triage often involves ad hoc phone calls, manual analysis, and data re-entry. With Opalis, users can automate diagnostics routines, corrective actions, and data transfer to help desk systems — and realize the benefits of a self-healing data center.
- Coordinate and consolidate events between help desk and monitoring applications. The Opalis Integration Packs provide a simple, yet powerful graphical user interface for filtering alerts in the monitoring system and auto-generating pre-populated trouble tickets in service management tools. Escalation processes can be automated, and data shared and synchronized with other third-party system monitors, freeing staff to focus on more strategic projects.
The new Opalis Integration Packs launched today include:
-
Opalis Integration Pack for BMC Event Manager — This integration pack automates BMC Event Manager diagnostics routines, corrective actions, and data transfer to other systems such as help desk, while realizing the benefits of a self-healing data center.
-
Opalis Integration Pack for CA NSM — The Opalis Integration Pack for CA NSM automates repetitive, time-consuming tasks such as corrective actions, diagnostic routines, and message response management specifically for CA NSM.
-
Opalis Integration Server Integration Pack for IBM Tivoli NetCool/ OMNIbus — This Integration Pack connects data center components to the OMNIbus system, with automation processes that are simple, fast, and effective.
-
The Opalis Integration Pack for IBM Netcool/OMNIbus enables users to integrate OMNIbus system with existing problem management processes and response procedures.
-
Opalis Integration Pack for BladeLogic Operation Manager — Integrating configuration management with systems management, the Opalis Integration Pack for BladeLogic extends BladeLogic Operation Manager by automating processes around key server management activities that typically take place in the enterprise data center, such as server patching and updates, server specific audits, server baseline analysis, and
maintenance/repair activities derived from interaction with service desk and help desk system requests and problem reports. It also coordinates and consolidates data center activities between BladeLogic CMDB and help desk systems.
Opalis offers more integration than any other vendor, including integration packs for all major management products from leading systems management
vendors such as EMC, HP, Microsoft, Symantec, and VMware.
