AppStream, Inc., a leader in on-demand application deployment and management, has announced today that it has partnered with Arc Technology as an authorised integration partner for software asset audits.
Under the program, Arc will provide both technology and consulting assistance to their channel partners for the enablement of software asset audits using solutions from AppStream. By combining asset sweeps and application streaming, customers can quickly quantify their software assets and provision licenses based on corporate and EULA policy.
AppStream Inventory Manager (AIM) is a powerful and flexible inventory scanning system for both hardware and software, which can be used as an audit scanner in both deployed agent and agent-free environments. AIM can audit remote computers and even network appliances, including switches, network printers, and other IP devices. When information from AIM sweeps is incorporated into the AppStream platform during an audit period, customers can determine not only what applications are installed, but who is using them and how often. AppStream can control and provision the licenses for both streamed and conventionally installed applications, providing the optimal benefit of corporate software assets.
“Industry analysts estimate that up to 30% of all purchased software can end-up as shelf-ware, or worse, companies are challenged in maintaining compliance with licensing agreements due to continual changes within their environment,” said Nic Burkinshaw, sales operations manager - EMEA, AppStream. “Our customers have reported up to 50% savings or more on licensing costs, and dramatic cost reduction in the labour and systems normally required to manage this process. Working with Arc Technology provides a fast path to bringing these solutions to our customers through effective training and targeted consultancy, generating immediate ROI for the end-customer.”
“Application deployment, remote working and license management are showing astounding growth,” said James Munroe, division product manager, Arc Technology. “Arc recognises that application streaming is a key area of interest for the channel and Arc's server-based computing team for the rapid provisioning and control of applications on-demand. AppStream offers the advantages of both fat and thin client environments while eliminating many of the drawbacks providing a hybrid solution. With many of our partners focusing on virtualisation and application delivery I felt that streaming was complementary to these market sectors working alongside, and in conjunction with existing infrastructures. Our technical team constantly looks for the strongest solutions in the marketplace. AppStream was identified as a very strong contender in application streaming and license management, coupled with the AppStream partner programme the solutions offer a very compelling proposition for Arc's partners; end-user lead generation, high margin retention and pre-sales technical support."
