LeftHand Networks Announces Two New Highly Available SANs
Building on its position as the leading provider of highly available open iSCSI SANs, LeftHand Networks® today announced the availability of two new storage platforms, the NSM 4150 and the NSM 2060. These next generation platforms go beyond traditional SAN offerings and provide an ideal solution for optimizing performance and manageability in virtualized server environments. By delivering a rich feature set, advanced data protection and centralized management, LeftHands new products provide an elegant and automated solution at unprecedented price points.

"We believe that LeftHand Networks has one of the best SAN storage systems in the industry," said Tony Asaro, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "The NSM 4150 and NSM 2060 are both fully integrated storage systems that leverage their intelligent SAN/iQ software providing a highly virtualized solution with a set of advanced features, scalability, ease of management and capabilities. We are seeing end users embrace iSCSI but more importantly LeftHand is providing next generation storage solutions that are significantly improving the value of implementing storage networks for companies of all sizes and across different industries."

The NSM 4150 and NSM 2060 optimize virtualized server environments by providing best-in-class high data availability and performance, utilizing the advanced data replication technology in LeftHands SAN/iQ clustered storage software. Offered at affordable price points, the SAN solutions enable Enterprise and SME customers to deploy these capabilities wherever needed -- across corporate data centers, regional and remote offices.

As more and more Enterprises embark on large-scale server virtualization deployments, IT departments are realizing that traditional storage infrastructures do not provide the required levels of high availability, performance and data protection required in todays 24 x 7 world, said David Bangs, vice president of sales, LeftHand Networks. Multiple applications running on a single server can result in performance bottlenecks as more resources contend for a limited number of storage controllers. High availability features provided by server virtualization vendors provide application failover but without a highly available virtualized shared storage infrastructure do not address data availability and protection.

New Product Details: Scalable Configurations, Enterprise Features

The NSM 4150 reduces the cost and complexity associated with todays networked storage offerings, freeing customers from expensive software add-ons, frustrating downtime and painful configuration changes, such as with fibre channel controller upgrades. With its clustered architecture, the NSM 4150 eliminates the performance bottlenecks that often occur in virtualized server environments. The NSM 4150 is fully integrated and simultaneously scales capacity and performance without disruption and enables customers to manage multiple sites and applications from a single pane of glass. The NSM 4150 is available in three configurations, 4.5TB 15K SAS, 7.5 TB SATA, and 11.25 TB SATA, each with 15 hot swappable disk drives.

The NSM 2060 delivers an Enterprise-class SAN at an affordable, entry-level price ideal for IT managers at small and mid-tier enterprises, especially those looking to deploy high availability for virtualized server environments or to move away from isolated DAS storage. With the NSMs integrated synchronous replication, which represents a single volume of data to the user no matter at what location the data resides, storage administrators do not have to worry that a server failure will disrupt data availability. Intuitive and easy to manage, the NSM 2060 comes fully integrated for easy set-up with plug-and-play capacity expansion and complete software features not previously available in a SAN of this class. The NSM 2060 comes in three configurations; 1.8 TB 15K SAS, 3.0 TB SATA, and 4.5 TB SATA, each with 6 hot swappable disk drives.

Both the NSM 4150 and NSM 2060 provide centralized SAN/iQ management, and offer a full feature set that includes advanced thin provisioning 2.0; snapshots; distributed clustering; synchronous multi-site SAN replication; asynchronous remote copy replication; volume migration and volume cloning.

"With this expanded portfolio, LeftHand is delivering powerful and fully-integrated SAN solutions that provide unprecedented value and are ideal across an entire Enterprise, said Bill Chambers, president and CEO, LeftHand Networks. LeftHands versatile and highly available SANs deliver advanced virtualization capabilities that easily and non-disruptively scale as a business grows. Thanks to our unique architecture, customers will never outgrow a LeftHand SAN.

Availability

The NSM 4150 and NSM 2060 are available Fourth Quarter, 2007 through LeftHand Networks resellers and VARs in the United States and value added distributors throughout Europe. The NSM 4150 starts at $32,000 and the NSM 2060 starts at $15,000.
