With nearly 80 companies offering somewhere around 120 virtualization management products listed by Gartner, it might be the perfect time for the DMTF to set some standards for system virtualization management. It looks like newcomer ManageIQ is signing up to the task.
ManageIQ™, the emerging leader in the management and automation of virtualized computing environments, today announced the company has joined the Distributed Management Task Force, Inc. (DMTF®). ManageIQ joins with nearly 200 organizations in efforts to define management standards and promote interoperability for enterprise and internet environments, including the DMTF’s recently announced open standards for system virtualization management.
“We believe interoperability is an essential capability for the new virtual management technologies, as well as for the traditional tools in the management ecosystem,” said Joseph Fitzgerald, Co-founder and CEO of ManageIQ. “The DMTF has a long and successful track record of delivering standards for interoperability that simplify and reduce the expense of managing IT infrastructures. We’re committed to helping to define those standards for virtual systems, as well as to delivering product capabilities which enable interoperability and integration for our customers,” Fitzgerald added.
“Although ManageIQ is a relatively new company, its team’s historical involvement with the DMTF from our early days, and their renewed participation demonstrate their continuing long-term commitment to our goals,” said Winston Bumpus, DMTF President. “We’re pleased ManageIQ has chosen to join with us, and we look forward to their contributions as we continue our work to simplify and provide interoperable management standards and initiatives,” Bumpus added.
