Shavlik Establishes New EMEA Headquarters And Appoints Neil Butchart as first Managing Director

News coming out of Shavlik Technologies, the folks who worked with VMware to create the patch management technology in VMware's Update Manager:

Shavlik Technologies, LLC, the market leader in simplifying complex network configuration, compliance and security today announced that it has established a new European-based headquarters, and appointed Neil Butchart as the company’s first managing director for Europe, Middle East and Africa.  This appointment follows the announcement in January of Rocco Donnino as vice president of worldwide business development, signaling a commitment to expanding partnerships worldwide as the company progresses its portfolio of information technology and security management solutions.

Butchart takes up the position as managing director after five years developing the company’s international business channel from its Minnesota head office. His career spans 20 years in international business channel development within the information technology and information security sector, including positions based from the United Kingdom and South Africa as well as the United States for companies that include Data Security Communications and Multi-tech Systems. As UK managing director for Multi-tech Systems in the early 1990s. Butchart led the UK operation to 10 million turnover within two years.

Butchart will be based at the company’s Amsterdam office, located in the World Trade Center, where supported by a technical engineering and sales team, he will be dedicated to expanding the business development channel for the Shavlik portfolio of IT security and compliance solutions. Committed to supporting its EMEA customers through specialist resellers, system administrators and consultants, Shavlik is working to ease access to comprehensive and flexible solutions that simplify operational security.

“We are particularly excited about developments in this region as we see more and more companies recognize the need to apply the constant effort that only automation can provide to managing ever-changing security vulnerabilities, security posture drift, and to close the gaps in their security and compliance state,” said Butchart. “At Shavlik we have matured the technologies to ensure they are very easy to deploy, provide comprehensive network visibility, and have the flexibility to accommodate point solutions that companies may already have in place.”

Over the last year, Shavlik has dramatically expanded and enhanced its solution portfolio, along with its business channel strategy to respond to the insights from its growing customer base. Through strategic partnerships with select, security focused value added resellers (VARs) and global managed service providers, the region has experienced double digit growth for several years, with over 2,000 existing customers in EMEA who currently use Shavlik to protect their most valuable assets.

“We’ve fielded growing interest from the EMEA region. The appointment of a European MD and expansion of the team in Europe reflects this and will ensure we can help our partners be in the best position to respond to the opportunity” said Ed Peek, Shavlik Technologies’ vice president of worldwide sales.
