Introducing BinaryKarma and their multi-hypervisor platform, FluidVM

BinaryKarma is a Virtualization products and services company based out of Chennai, India. Their flagship multi-hypervisor virtualization platform, FluidVM, is available as a public beta.  According to the company, they also currently have implementations of their product deployed in production.  Which I suppose means that these companies are running Beta software in their production environment, which could be a little scary.  It looks like the product currently supports the Xen hypervisor and openVZ containers.

Some of FluidVM's features are:

  • Support for FullVMs - Ability to run unmodified operating systems on nodes that have VT/AMD-V technology
  • Support for Containers - Ability to run containers based on the Linux operating system with excellent VM density
  • Storage support - SAN and Local storage
  • Business continuity features like ServiceEnsure, HotMigrate, VMEvict and VMBalance
  • Ships with a browser based interface unified for FullVMs and Containers - control from anywhere
  • Fine-grained user management - 4 classes of users with object level ownership enforcement
  • Simple licensing - Support for both FullVMs and Containers with a single license

Also some tools available under the beta program:

  • App2Con - Automates the creation of container templates from Appliance Images. The most commonly used services in an organization like DNS, Mail servers, CMS solutions, Wikis, Blogs and CRM solutions can also be run in a container environment. Currently supports CentOS, RedHat based/derived appliances.
  • VPSCart - Lets data centers go online with the automation of virtual server commissioning and system user creation. Support for payment gateways is available. VPSCart enables data center administrators to create plans and expose them on a portal from where users can choose and buy Nodes and Virtual Servers. VPSs/Virtual Servers are automatically commissioned. FluidVM's multi-level user architecture ensures that users can only view and control objects assigned to them. VPSCart is an application built on top of the FluidVM platform.

FluidVM is available as public beta software with a liberal license for a testing period of 45 days. Please visit http://www.binarykarma.com to download FluidVM software, license and manuals.

Screenshots and demos are also available.
