Ok, not that newsworthy, I realize. I made it to Las Vegas this morning, so what? Well, I wasn't sure I was going to make it today... or this weekend in fact. If you've been following hurricane Ike, you'll know that it took a turn in the gulf and hit Galveston, Texas and then went into Houston. Coming from Texas, I wasn't sure I would make it... thinking my plane trip would be cancelled. However, flying out of Austin, Texas proved successful. While there were plenty of cancelled flights, mine was not. Thankfully.
It looks like the folks at the Sands Expo were moving at a mile a minute today. Throughout the day, these folks were busy gearing up for the show, setting up banners, signs, tables, booths, exhibits, etc. Things are coming along nicely, and might I add, this thing is huge folks! Wear comfortable shoes if you can... you will be walking, and walking, and walking. If you stop to ask a hotel or expo employee where something is located and they tell you, "Just go this way and then down the stairs, you can't miss it". Don't be fooled! Nothing is just this way or that, or right around the corner in Vegas. You may be walking 10 city blocks to "go right around the corner" here.
So get ready to walk, listen, walk, learn, walk, watch and then do some more walking.
I'm not sure where the break out sessions were located, but remembering back to the VMworld event in Mandalay Bay, be prepared to possibly sprint from one session to the next.
Notice a theme here folks?
Here is to a great VMworld 2008 with 14,000+ of your closest virtualization friends. Have fun!
