vmSight Partners with Virtual Iron for Virtual Infrastructure and Service Management
vmSight, a leader in performance management and end user experience assurance for virtualized environments, today announced a new partnership with Virtual Iron, a leading provider of server virtualization software. The agreement brings the joint value of their solutions to managed service providers and cloud computing providers, giving customers complete and cost-effective virtualization management while assuring the quality of end-user experience for applications running on virtual infrastructures.

The partnership combines Virtual Irons comprehensive server virtualization and virtual infrastructure management solution with vmSights end user experience assurance solution. This gives service providers a cost-effective, enterprise-grade virtualization solution that includes operating system independence, high-availability, resource optimization and power conservation, along with the ability to monitor and manage application performance and end user experience. The Virtual Iron solution combines an open source hypervisor with comprehensive virtual infrastructure management capabilities, while vmSight leverages patented technology to track and assure end user experience applications to run on virtual infrastructures. The combined solution allows application workloads to be governed by Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and provides administrators automated response and control capabilities when SLA issues are detected.

Virtualization is a critical part of hosted application infrastructure, and Virtual Iron delivers comprehensive capabilities combined with an open architecture to provide an essential control layer for virtual infrastructure, stated Chris Barclay, director of Product Management at Virtual Iron. vmSight enables Virtual Iron users to take virtual infrastructure management to the next level, providing deep application knowledge that enhances the policy-based automation already built in. As a result, users can reduce data center costs and increase flexibility while delivering excellent performance and user experience.

End-user computing is in transition, and clearly managed services and cloud computing play a big part of that, said Jonathan Alexander, president and co-founder of vmSight. We are pleased to partner with Virtual Iron to deliver a complete virtualization solution that allows service providers to control costs while ensuring performance and end user experience.

The Virtual Iron and vmSight partnership is being announced at VMworld 2008 and the combined solutions will be available through a limited number of key resellers initially.
