CompuCom Systems, Inc., a leading IT outsourcing company, today unveiled its new Enterprise Solutions Center, a facility designed to demonstrate next-generation technology solutions, including advanced solutions for data centers, unified communications and desktop optimization and management. Also serving to foster collaborative client interaction on IT infrastructure strategy around these technologies, the state-of-the-art center is located at the company
’s corporate headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
In today’s environment, there must be a strategic balance between competing demands. Cost reduction is of major importance but must be balanced with the ability to rapidly respond to an organization’s changing needs and maintaining quality. Both legacy and existing challenges in today’s data center require a new perspective on leading-edge technologies as well as a holistic and strategic approach to IT architectural design.
CompuCom believes that the next-generation data center is based around five enabling-solution areas that should be addressed, planned for and implemented in an integrated fashion. These solution areas of CompuCom’s Enterprise Solutions approach include: virtualization, blade technology, enterprise storage, a unified network fabric and integrated management and automation. In addition, these technologies must be deployed and managed with strong TCO and risk avoidance goals. CompuCom ensures these disciplines become integral parts of the next-generation data center’s architecture by leveraging ITIL processes as part of CompuCom’s IT Service Management (ITSM) and ISO 20000 certified infrastructure.
In addition to showcasing these five enabling-solution areas, CompuCom’s new Enterprise Solution Center will serve as a “think tank” facility for working with prospective and existing clients in helping them to develop infrastructure strategies along with road maps for deploying solutions in their environments. The center also provides a location that will be made available to CompuCom clients as a place where they can bring their decision-making teams for planning sessions with solution architects and to then see ideas-in-action as decisions are made.
“For the next-generation data center, CompuCom’s holistic Enterprise Solutions strategy dramatically reduces costs and improves the agility of organizations’ infrastructures while enhancing quality and availability,” said William Barry, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Sales at CompuCom. “The cumulative value of deploying these five enabling technologies together in the data center could prove to be multiplicative rather than additive.”
As part of a joint seminar series with key partners such as Cisco, HP and VMware, CompuCom is demonstrating the strategic cooperation and common vision between these alliances and its ability to collaborate on a strategic infrastructure architecture that meets all of the challenges of today’s data center. To give clients and constituents an opportunity to experience the new facility first hand, CompuCom will be hosting a grand-opening event with presentations along with wine and cheese at its corporate headquarters on October 8, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additionally, each participating partner will represent how their solutions are designed to be part of a strategic architecture that delivers greater value as a tightly integrated design.
