VKernel Corporation, a provider of easy-to-use and quick-to-deploy virtual appliances for managing virtual server environments, today announced Alex Bakman, founder and CEO of VKernel, will be presenting a session titled “How to Find and Resolve Capacity Bottlenecks in Virtual Server Environments” at the 2008 Virtualization Conference and Expo on Wednesday, Nov. 19
th at The Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, Calif.
“While organizations continue to rapidly virtualize their data centers, there is very little movement to virtualize business-critical applications,” said Bakman. “IT needs visibility into how much resource capacity they have and are using in order to reduce risks and provide a level of confidence necessary for virtualizing important applications. The goal of this workshop is to walk attendees through a step-by-step approach for continually monitoring the infrastructure and proactively preventing capacity issues to ensure performance and service levels are always met.”
In a virtual infrastructure where resources, CPU, memory, storage, and network, are shared between virtual machines, ensuring optimal performance is a must. Resource consumption should be closely monitored, especially as more virtual machines (VMs) are continually added. Not analyzing how additional VMs will impact utilization could result in poor performance and even system downtime. Ultimately, this means unhappy users, dissatisfied managers, and a negative impact on the virtualization project. This session will discuss a formula for ensuring that organizations will not run into these problems. In fact, by closely and proactively monitoring resource availability, IT can create a very stable environment and prove to users that virtualization is ready for prime time.
