NetIQ AppManager Suite Optimizes Virtualization Management
With virtualization technology adoption on the rise, organizations need solutions that comprehensively manage the hybrid physical-virtual IT environment. To that end, NetIQ announced today extended capabilities of AppManager® Suite software to optimize VMware management with improved performance and availability monitoring, dynamic thresholding and customizable reporting. NetIQ® AppManager Suite can now troubleshoot and remediate critical issues more quickly and effectively for operations and VMware administrators by delivering better metrics and deeper visibility into an increasingly complex hybrid IT environment.

As a comprehensive solution, NetIQ AppManager Suite delivers enterprise systems and application management for static, dynamic and virtualized platforms with out-of-the-box functionality and intelligence to radically improve time-to-value of IT investments. Extensions to the AppManager Suite that help organizations maximize their investments in VMware infrastructure include:

  • Deeper Monitoring of VMware: With automation features of AppManager 7, the latest version of the VMware module includes new Knowledge Scripts® for quick and easy deployment of monitoring standards for VMware host, virtual machine and resource pool usage metrics. Metrics sourced by the module are combined with performance data from physical assets and end-user experience monitoring for a 360° view of IT service delivery.
  • Predictive Trend Analysis of VMware VirtualCenter: AppManager Performance Profiler v.4.1 (AMPP) intelligently adapts to and profiles the shifting characteristics of dynamic hybrid IT environments to detect deviations from normal performance and alert administrators to impending service-impacting issues. AMPP now includes predictive trend analysis for VMware VirtualCenter, network devices and end-user response times for improved signal-to-noise ratio and prioritized event management.
  • Consolidated Reporting for VMware: Leveraging NetIQ Analysis Center v.2.7, the VMware Report Pack includes some 60 out-of-the-box templates for performance reporting beyond the standard CPU, memory, network and disk I/O metrics to aggregated performance reports of ESX hosts and guests. The combined functionality extends long-term historical reporting to better align capacity planning and continued investments in virtual technology.

Delivering optimal IT services across the hybrid infrastructure requires the right knowledge balanced by intelligent management, planning, and reporting, said Criss Scruggs, senior manager of Product Marketing at NetIQ. With these new extended capabilities of NetIQ AppManager Suite software, we are helping customers achieve two critical objectives: better manage the complexity that virtualization introduces to their environment and leverage more accurate performance metrics to maximize current and future investments in VMware technology.
