Free Virtualization Monitoring Added to Perspective Network Management Software
PacketTrap Networks (www.PacketTrap.com) today announced that its network troubleshooting and remediation solution, Perspective, now includes virtualization monitoring. The free virtualization module helps IT managers identify virtual machines and other resources throughout their life cycles. It is integrated into Perspectives dashboard, which Richard Ptak from Ptak & Associates (www.ptaknoelassociates.com) calls a powerful and intuitive interface that makes the task of getting information much easier.

Perspective was designed with the help of more than 10,000 network administrators who provided critical input regarding features, functions and usability. This community of users helped determine the requirements for Perspectives new virtualization module, which led to features such as discovery, tracking, capacity planning, traffic analysis and alerting/reporting notification capabilities.

For every feature an IT administrator needs to manage the virtual network, there are at least 3 different vendors selling technology to address that need, said Steve Goodman, CEO of PacketTrap Networks. Our virtualization module offers discovery, CPU, memory, disk usage and interface traffic monitoring of virtualized environments at a granular level so organizations dont need to juggle multi-vendor relationships. That our virtualization module is integrated into our Perspective network troubleshooting and remediation solution makes it even more convenient for IT administrators to do their jobs quickly and effectively.

Virtualization Monitoring

Perspectives Virtualization module makes it easy to monitor a virtual environment to ensure it is running smoothly. It automatically discovers host ESX servers and associated guest virtual machines and provides insight into key statistics like status, CPU, memory, disk usage, and interface traffic. As resource allocations change, Perspective updates to provide you with the most real-time information about a virtualized environment.

  • Automatically groups VMware® ESX host servers and guest virtual machines together in a single view
  • Monitor VMware® ESX host servers health and performance
  • View complete virtual machine usage details including state, status, CPU, guest memory, disk usage
  • See traffic generated by your virtualized environment in Perspectives Network Traffic Flow module
  • Establish alert notifications and reports for both VMware® ESX host servers and guest virtual machines performance
