rPath Puts Cloud Computing in Plain English on YouTube
rPath today announced “Cloud Computing in Plain English,” an animated short video which takes a lighthearted look at cloud computing while bringing clarity to what has become a somewhat confusing concept. The video is available now at http://www.rpath.com/corp/cloudinenglish and on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdBd14rjcs0.

“There are several distinct yet interrelated technologies that are converging under the umbrella of cloud computing, which only adds to the confusion associated with this trend,” said Jake Sorofman, vice president of marketing for rPath. “Cloud Computing in Plain English takes an irreverent approach to shedding light on the definition of cloud and why it should live up to the hype it has generated.”

Much of this interest around cloud computing is attributable to the fact that it has direct implications for cost savings in a down economy. rPath plays a key role in this trend by providing an approach that reduces the cost and complexity of deploying and maintaining enterprise applications that run in the cloud and other virtualized or traditional environments.

“Cloud Computing in Plain English” touches on cloud’s foundational technologies — virtualization, utility computing, and software as a service — explaining each in terms that are easily understood by laypeople. The video goes on to clearly yet simply differentiate cloud computing from its component technologies, and finally, underscore cloud computing’s business benefits.
