Virtual Computer has released a video clip to showcase a bit more of its upcoming client hypervisor product, NxTop.

On the company blog, they discuss the importance of graphics performance on the client machine.  And that is absolutely spot on!  One of the issues with virtualization from an end-users perspective is and has been performance, and specifically speaking, the performance of video graphics on the PC.  If the user believes there is a lack of performance or a lack of video capabilities, they usually won't bother with it.  Or the very least, they will complain endlessly to IT... anyone with me here?  Do end-users complain to you admins?  Nah!  ;)

So because of this, the Virtual Computer folks are making this a major area of focus.  They said they have great 2D graphics working in their beta deployments today, but that they won't be satisfied until they have 3D graphics performance that is not discernable from a native operating system installation.

This is a huge undertaking, but luckily for the company, they have someone as smart and creative as their CTO, Alex Vasilevsky.  Once Alex puts his heart and mind on the project, look out!  And to that end, this video showcases exactly what Alex is working on.  The video shows their product running multiple virtual machines, where each VM is running an application doing 3D graphics and displaying them on multiple screens.  Here, they show Windows XP and Vista running concurrently, sharing the same laptop.  Windows XP is running Quake, and Vista is running Google Earth.

Now that's some heavy duty 3D rendering going on here folks!  And they are displaying this on multiple screens.   Check it out.
