VMware recognizing bloggers and community members as vExperts

About a month ago, Duncan Epping from Yellow-Bricks told folks that VMware announced a new program called the "VMware Virtualization Professional Program".  He compared the VVP to what Microsoft has been doing for years with its Microsoft MVP program, where they recognize individuals in the industry and community who have "given back" so to speak to the rest of the world... basically, helping promote Microsoft and their products by blogging, participating as a source of information to people, authoring books, etc.  Really, the MVP program is quite spectacular and well run and well received by folks.

So it's great to hear that VMware is also taking this charge.  I don't know if this is something that ex-Microsoft, now VMware CEO Paul Maritz has brought to the table or not, but I applaud VMware for creating such a program.

VMware's John Troyer, blogger and community friend, originally broke this news on his VMTN Round Table podcast, and now according to Duncan Epping and Tom Howarth at PlanetVM, the program has officially been dubbed "VMware vExpert".  Man, that little "v" keeps showing up everywhere these days, doesn't it?  ;)

Good luck with the program.  And hopefully someone like John Troyer ends up running this thing to make it a huge success!

VMware has officially announced a new program to award virtualization community contributors and they are calling it vExpert. Yes, I wrote about the vExpert program yesterday, but last night VMware's John Troyer decided to pop the news officially on VMware's
