In December 2008, The Aberdeen Group surveyed 137 organizations to examine best practices for improving the performance of business critical applications in virtualized environments.  The findings in this 23 page report can serve as guidelines to organizations looking to achieve optimal application performance while virtulizing their servers, desktops and storage.

Best-in-Class organizations reported:

• Organizations are three times more likely to report improvements in their ability to prevent application performance issues in virtualized environments as compared to all others.
• Organizations are experiencing 32% average improvements in mean time to repair performance issues in virtualized environments as compared to 6% average decline for Laggard organizations.
• They are three times more likely to report improvements in application response times after conducting virtualization projects as compared to all others.
