How Server Virtualization Works
Virtualization is a solution allowing organizations to run multiple virtual machines on one physical server. Each virtual machine utilizes an independent operating system as if they were individual servers, otherwise known as virtual servers. A virtual machine functions exactly like a physical computer and contains its own virtual CPU, RAM hard disk and network interface card. The computer resources of the physical server are treated as a uniform cluster of components that can be allocated to the virtual servers in an organized manner.
Organizations are striving for intelligent technology offering a multitude of benefits, allowing them to focus on their core competencies.
Virtual Server Benefits:
- Reduce IT costs by consolidating customer’s servers and providing a more scalable solution
- Improve business continuity with more flexibility and less downtime
- Increase in performance creating a more efficient environment for applications
- Enhance security for regulatory and compliance requirements
