Embotics, the Virtualization Automation and Control Company™, today released V-Commander™ 3.0; an automation, management and control solution specifically designed to reduce operational costs and increase operational efficiency of virtual environments. The company also is offering V-Commander 3.0 in three modules, allowing companies to acquire the control elements they need, when they need them, and with no pressure to purchase the full solution.
For organizations looking to scale their use of virtualization, V-Commander 3.0 provides the automation and governance necessary to accelerate the adoption of server virtualization without creating sprawl or adding unnecessary resources and staff. By reducing ongoing support costs and optimizing resources, V-Commander 3.0 improves the total cost of ownership associated with virtualization while reducing associated risk and improving the quality of service.
Recognizing that every organization is at different stages of virtualization adoption, Embotics offers three modules for V-Commander so enterprises can use them as building blocks to create a fully integrated and automatically managed infrastructure at their own pace. Organizations using V-Commander 3.0 will see value right out of the box, and a payback period of less than four months. The solution allows IT and systems administrators to deploy a Virtual Machine (VM) management and control system that removes operational roadblocks to virtualization adoption. New features in V-Commander 3.0 include:
- Improved Insight Abilities: Rearview analysis of historical events, UI enhancements, additional reporting, data-store scanning and multiple layers of sprawl detection;
- Expanded Policy Actions: The ability to suspend VMs, as well as assign policy attributes, groups and extensions at any level in a virtual infrastructure, and receive updates via email alerts; and
- Additional Enterprise Functionality: Increased role-based access control (integrated with active directory), additional resource costing, support for mixed VMware environments (V1 through V4) and further VMware Virtual Center and vCenter Server commands and infrastructure attributes.
“Poor operational readiness for growth is one of the biggest impediments to growing virtual environments. Embotics understands that most datacenters can only afford to implement a solution that fits an immediate need, and yet will ultimately grow to encompass future requirements,” said Paul Casey, datacenter platforms practice leader for Computacenter (UK) Ltd; the largest VMware reseller in the United Kingdom. “Licensing specific parts of V-Commander gives us a greater opportunity to help more organizations solve their immediate needs, while at the same time building an operational management system that allows them to more effectively scale their use of virtualization.”
V-Commander modules available today include:
- Federated Inventory Management: A real-time inventory of record and reporting system that saves administration time, improves troubleshooting and planning, and provides cost visibility;
- Resource and Cost Management: Automated resource management and cost containment that improves cost accountability, dramatically reduces administrative time and optimizes resource utilization; and
- Operational and Risk Management: Process automation and control that provides a more consistent environment by improving overall service levels, enabling fewer incidents and audit findings, and improving fiscal, operational and risk oversight.
“Embotics is developing V-Commander to match the needs of the industry, responding to both the immediate and long-term requirements for sustainable growth and controlled virtual infrastructures,” said Jay Litkey, CEO and founder of Embotics. “V-Commander 3.0 enhancements and new modules are in response to evolutionary virtualization requirements and current IT spending, with the expectation that customers and resellers will find incremental yet imperative value in our solution.”
Individually licensed modules will be offered at a determined percentage of the full solution price.
