Netronome to Present I/O Requirements for Unified Computing
Netronome, a leading developer of highly programmable semiconductor products that provide intelligent and secure flow processing for virtualized servers and network equipment, today announced that the company will discuss the I/O requirements for the convergence of virtualized servers and networking in data centers at the Linley Tech Conference taking place November 10, 2009 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, California. This one-day event will feature in-depth presentations on the newest chips and technologies driving the future of enterprise and data center networks.

Virtual machine (VM) technologies and I/O virtualization (IOV) create a new set of requirements that mandates a more intelligent approach for managing networking functions. Netronome has developed flow-based processors for high performance VM switching and intelligent network adapters for use in next-generation data center servers, appliances and network elements.

“This conference addresses the equipment-design and silicon trends taking place in the dynamic data center market, a market that is thriving in this challenging economic environment,” said Jag Bolaria, senior analyst, The Linley Group. “Presentations focusing on energy-efficient design, cloud computing, virtualization and more, will give attendees the knowledge required to deliver competitive products and technologies that will drive data center architectures over the next 12-24 months.”

Nabil Damouny, Netronome’s senior director of strategic marketing, will present “Unified Computing – I/O Requirements for the Convergence of Virtualization Servers and Networking in Data Centers” on Tuesday, November 10, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Mr. Damouny’s presentation will describe the major engineering design implications of virtualized I/O in servers, appliances and networking equipment as well as the requirements to support 10Gbps data rates with integrated security. Mr. Damouny will also participate in a panel with other industry leaders who will be discussing “Packet Processing in Virtualized Data Centers.”

“Virtualized mutlicore CPUs are increasingly used in switches, routers, and network appliances for control, data plane, security and other networking applications,” said Mr. Damouny. “In this session, we will explore the network architecture that is needed to deliver unified computing without disrupting network performance.”
