VirtualLogix, Inc., a leading provider of Real-Time Virtualization™ technology for mobile handsets, today announced an agreement with Infineon Technologies AG, one of the world’s leading suppliers of semiconductor and system solutions, to supply the company’s VLX™ virtualization software for use in multi-media chipset platforms from Infineon for mobile handsets. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Teams from Infineon and VirtualLogix have collaborated to successfully integrate and test VLX software with an Infineon mobile handset reference platform.
“The VirtualLogix technology, in combination with the market leading ability of Infineon to provide cost leadership for mobile media platforms, is bringing smartphone functionality to mass markets," said Stefan Wolff, Vice President of the Wireless Solutions Division and General Manager of the Smartphone and RF business, at Infineon. “This new software architecture allows reuse of Infineon’s leading dual-mode cellular protocol stack almost entirely unchanged, at the same time preserving our OEM customers' investment in their existing software."
