RES Software, the proven leader in user workspace management, today announced that RES PowerFuse 2010 has been recognized by Microsoft in its Front Runner partner program. The solution is being recognized for its compatibility with the Microsoft SQL Azure Database. As workforces become increasingly mobile, cloud computing is now more pervasive, offering cost-effective, high availability access to organizational database resources. RES Software has designed the latest version of its flagship product, RES PowerFuse, to work in conjunction with Microsoft SQL Azure, a cloud database, providing end-users operating in the cloud uninterrupted access to their personalized database settings.
“Through the technical and marketing support provided by the Front Runner program, we are excited to see the innovative solutions built on the Windows Azure platform by the ISV community,” said Doug Hauger, general manager for Windows Azure Microsoft Corp. “The companies who choose to be a part of the Front Runner program show initiative and technological advancement in their respective industries.”
RES PowerFuse 2010 enables organizations to separate the desktop from the operating system, automating the management, creation and dynamic composition of user workspaces. By supporting Microsoft SQL Azure, RES PowerFuse now provides Microsoft users the ability to access their settings stored in a centralized database directly from the Internet, as well as from their servers. Settings are also cached locally on the end-user’s device in the event an Internet connection is interrupted, and are automatically updated in the database once a connection is restored.
“As market demand for cloud compatible solutions increases, RES Software identified an opportunity to add this support into our flagship product, RES PowerFuse 2010. The new offering enables IT professionals to take advantage of the highly available, cost-effective Windows Azure, allowing them to maintain all user workspace configurations in both cloud and physical environments,” said Jim Kirby, president of the Americas, RES Software. “We’re pleased to receive this recognition from Microsoft. It validates our efforts to provide joint customers with the most effective user workspace management solutions available today.”
