Leostream Corporation, a leading developer of virtual hosted desktop software, today announced the Leostream Connection Broker has been verified as Citrix Ready® by Citrix Systems, Inc. for XenServer® 5.6. The Citrix Ready program helps customers identify third-party solutions that are recommended to enhance virtualization, networking and cloud computing solutions from Citrix. The Leostream Connection Broker is the industry’s most widely deployed vendor-independent connection broker, integrating the complex array of clients, back-end systems and protocols required for successful enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) deployments. The Leostream Connection Broker underwent a rigorous verification process to ensure compatibility with the enterprise-class, cloud-proven Citrix XenServer 5.6 virtualization platform.
The Leostream Connection Broker is the software management layer that ties desktop images in the data center to appropriate end-user devices - thin clients, laptops, workstations or Web pages - delivering a user experience as good as or superior to that of a conventional desktop. The Leostream Connection Broker is vendor-independent, providing support for all major hypervisors, as well as for hosted applications and sessions, physical desktops, dedicated blades and other systems.
Among the features that the Leostream Connection Broker has been certified to support in XenServer are:
- Dynamic memory control: With this feature, XenServer can dynamically change the amount of memory allocated to any virtual machine (VM) within lower and upper bounds set by administrators. This feature can increase the number of VMs per host by permitting the memory utilization of existing ones to be compressed so that additional VMs can boot on the host.
- Workload balancing: XenServer can automatically determine the best virtual server to run a VM to facilitate reducing power during off-peak work hours.
- High availability: This enables XenServer to fail over a VM to another host within a pool of virtual servers. Users of virtual desktops would experience nothing more than a short pause as their session moves to another host.
The Citrix Ready program makes it easy for customers to identify complementary products and solutions that can enhance Citrix environments. Having successfully passed Citrix Ready testing, customers can trust that the Leostream Connection Broker will work effectively with XenServer 5.6 in order to create a reliable, scalable and robust VDI.
“The Citrix Ready designation makes it easier for customers to select the most suitable virtualization infrastructure products for their specific needs,” said John Fanelli, vice president of Solutions and Community Marketing at Citrix Systems, Inc. “By taking part in our program since 2008 and certifying the Connection Broker on XenServer 5.6, Leostream has enabled its customers to obtain the highest quality user experience available today, and the simplest means for making an informed product purchasing selection.”
“As a member of the Citrix Ready program, we are able to offer customers intelligent end user computing solutions that combine the Leostream Connection Broker with the powerful feature set of XenServer 5.6,” said Michael Palin, CEO of Leostream “This continues to demonstrate our longstanding commitment to work closely with trusted partners and industry leaders in order to provide the highest quality experience for our customers.”
