CSC announced today that it has been rated as “Strong Positive” in the Gartner report, MarketScope for Hosted Virtual Desktop Services (HVDS), North America. The report published on June 8, 2010, reviewed 9 vendors with significant marketplace presence and a minimum of $5 million annual revenue in hosted virtual desktop services solutions and two related North American references.
According to Gartner, “HVDS is an emerging model for provisioning a user environment and is the delivery and management of part or all of client computing hardware, software and support in a scalable fashion that is charged on a periodic and per-user basis.” They later write, HVDS “is not just about outsourcing, but rather defines a new approach that applies to any user model treating the provisioning of users as a holistic offering.”
“CSC’s Virtual Desktop service combines cutting-edge virtualization with enterprise-class scalability and robustness, delivering to clients the benefits of an advanced infrastructure-as-a-service model with greatly reduced risk and costs,” said Russ Owen, president of CSC’s Managed Services Sector. “We believe receiving the ‘Strong Positive’ rating in this Gartner report is a testament to our innovation and our commitment to cloud leadership.”
The report was authored by William Maurer, Lilian Dutra, and Richard T. Matlus and covers providers of HVDS in North America.
