Intel announced today that it has selected Joyent, a leading global provider of cloud computing solutions, to participate in Intel Cloud Builders, which publishes best practices, hardware blueprints and software architectures on how to deploy cloud infrastructures. Among the program participants, including HP, Dell, and VMware, Joyent is the only company that brings the experience of running a major public cloud service, develops the full software stack that runs that service, and markets a complete cloud software solution for service providers and enterprise customers.
“The Intel Cloud Builders demonstrates how to build clouds on Intel Xeon processor-based servers and helps to accelerate the deployment of secure and efficient cloud computing infrastructures,” said Jason Waxman, General Manager, Data Center Group at Intel. “The Joyent reference architecture published by Intel Cloud Builders demonstrates use cases for building a complete cloud infrastructure.”
By working with Intel Cloud Builders reference architecture, Joyent’s and Intel's shared customers will be able to reduce the learning curve for provisioning, administering, operating and maintaining their own cloud. They will also gain a foundation for building more complex, scalable, and resilient cloud computing architectures adapted to the specific needs of public, private or hybrid cloud deployments.
“For service providers and enterprise customers interested in rapidly standing up high-performance, high-ROI cloud computing solutions that are backed by the operational experience of a leading public cloud provider, the Intel Cloud Builders reference architecture for Joyent Smart Computing is a perfect solution,” said Jonathan King, Senior Vice President, Business Development, Joyent. “We are pleased to provide our proven cloud infrastructure solution, which has been hardened by over 5 years of production-level operations of the Joyent public cloud service, to Intel’s innovative Cloud Builders.”
