Egenera Inc. announced it has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 7,787,388 for clustering and fail-over technology used to ensure its highly-available converged infrastructure services.  Egenera’s patent is for a uniquely architected, redundant controller fabric configuration that ensures business critical levels of availability for its PAN Manager Software controllers. No other converged infrastructure or unified computing system today can boast this form of availability.

While use of converged infrastructure is the best way to physically simplify data center topology, it is also one of the most well-designed ways to provide availability and disaster recovery (DR) services. Egenera’s software is currently in use worldwide to provide high-availability and disaster recovery for both physical and virtual servers at commercial and government locations.
